Travel Resort
A travel resort is a place where people go to spend their vacation. They want to relax, unwind, not be bothered by the hum-drum problems and realities of everyday life, just somewhere to recharge the batteries for anything from a weekend to a couple of weeks. Travel resorts can be towns, many of which are desirable often because of their location or amenities, they can be places of special interest or they can be simply commercial establishments which have been developed specifically as a travel resort by a vacation company. These resorts are often self-contained and strive to provide everything right their on the premises, so that the traveler doesn’t need to venture outside of the complex at all – food, drink, entertainment, shopping, sports. . .
Types of Travel Resort
We’re all different (thankfully) and different travelers do expect different things from their travel resort. This is why many different types of travel resort have become established over the years.
Destination Resort – a destination resort is, in itself, a place which is capable of attracting visitors without relying on theme parks, historic sites or other places of interest. Often you will find a commercial establishment which is located at a destination resort, but this is competing with other businesses in the area and is not the sole reason for a visitor. Destination resorts often have a high quality of facilities on offer to tempt visitors to the area – food and drink, sports, shopping for example.
Spa Resorts – are essentially health resorts which have often built up in towns where natural spas, mineral waters and/or hot springs are evident. Many spa resorts have developed into fully fledged fitness centers offering wellness education, sports, beauty and special interest programs for a pre-determined number of days, generally exclusively at the spa resort.
All-inclusive Resorts – became increasingly popular over the last few decades although these days many people want a little more freedom of choice on their vacation. An all-inclusive resort will supply you with everything you need for a great vacation including accommodation, unlimited food and drink, entertainment and facilities, all at a pre-determined price. You can literally do whatever you please within the resort without having to dip into your pocket (great for families with kids who know exactly what the vacation will cost before they even pack their bags). Not so good for those of an adventurous nature though, who prefer to discover lots of new places during their vacation.
Golf Resorts – although Mark Twain was of the idea that “golf is a good walk spoiled”, there are millions of people who simply don’t agree with him (and a few of us that do)! With that in mind there are now thousands of golf resorts all over the world offering golf packages including green fees, carts, accommodation, meals and drinks, and very popular they are too.
Ski Resorts- these are generally destination resorts which happen to be in great ski-ing country. There is typically lots of accommodation and eating/drinking facilities all within the ski-ing area, so that there’s plenty of activities available both on and off piste. The “apres ski” is a very important part of ski-ing you know. Ski resorts often have lots of other snowy activities on offer too – snowboarding, sledding, ice-skating, dog-sledding, snowmobiling, as well as the extremely essential hot-tubs to soak your weary bones after a hard day on the mountain side.
Seaside Resorts – are, by design, located on the coast, and have been popular vacation destinations since vacation destinations began. There’s lots of entertainment available in the seaside resorts, apart from the beach and the sea. Often you’ll find a great range of bars, restaurants, night-clubs and the inevitable pleasure rides and amusement arcades. International travel saw the demise of many British seaside resorts, although some of them successfully turned towards attracting foreign travelers instead of the home grown variety.
Luxury Resorts- are, by design, expensive and are priced that way to not only provide luxury but also to help to keep the “riff-raff” out. They often have a number of 5 star hotels which appear to have more staff than visitors and lots of facilities like golf, spas, beauty facilities, watersports and really sell themselves by offering tranquility. Some of the most upmarket luxury resorts are frequented by the rich and famous, well, they’re the only ones who can really afford them.
Mega Resorts- these are destination resorts which have just grown and grown and not stopped. They often have loads of hotels, casinos, theme parks, golf courses – think the Las Vegas Strip with its mega hotels and casinos, and you’re on the right lines.
Historical Resorts – some resorts (these are destination resorts too) have maintained their popularity and attract visitors year after year because of their particular historical interest.
Arriving at Your Vacation Resort – There are many ways to travel to your destination resort: You can drive, rent a car, fly your favorite airline or take a cruise ship. Regardless of how you plan to travel, one thing is for sure… that you will be refreshed and relaxed when you are done. And, you will already be planning your next resort vacation.
Planning a discount trip can make your visit to the travel resort of your choice an even greater (and cheaper) experience.
